Why You Should Have Your Hair Done by a Professional

Many people consider professional haircuts and color services to be luxuries. You don’t have to look any further than the beauty aisle at the grocery store to see a lot of products that would lead you to believe this is something you can do just as well on your own. Having your hair done by a licensed, certified professional, however, not only delivers better results but is also better for your hair.

Expertise

Professional salons don’t let anyone just walk off the street and start styling hair. Stylists and colorists must go through training before they are ever allowed to give their first trim. As new techniques are developed, they undergo continuing education to hone their skills. The instructions written on the back of the dye box are no substitute for the knowledge and expertise you get when you pay for professional hair color Manhattan KS. In fact, even if you follow the instructions perfectly, you could still end up with a mess that only a professional colorist can fix, and it’s likely to be much more expensive than if you just had your color done in a salon in the first place.

Products

The best place to find the shampoo, conditioner and styling products that are right for your hair is during your visit to the salon. Stylists are trained to know what products work best with different hair types. For example, if you have fine hair, you don’t want a heavy conditioner that weighs down the strands and makes your locks go limp. Manufacturers also sell their best products to salons, so you know you’re getting the cream of the crop when you purchase your shampoo there.

Professional hair services may seem like a luxury expense. If you are picky about how your hair looks, though, you will get much better results from a professional than you can get at home.

Understanding the Significance of Failure Analysis

The need for sound mechanical design and analysis is apparent to most industry specialists and business owners, but just as important is the analysis of these designs when they fail in practice. Failure analysis entails data collection and study on the nature of a product or system’s breakdown when in use—how it happened, the conditions that led to the failure mode and what can be done to prevent future failures. This practice is vital for both developing new products and finding ways to improve on existing ones.

What Failure Analysis Looks Like

Failure analysis is rooted in the scientific method: determine the issue, form a hypothesis, gather data, use that data to test the hypothesis and derive conclusions. In practice, this process can be lengthy, comprising multiple stages of data collection, specimen testing, macroscopic and microscopic examination and comparison between failed and intact specimens. Sometimes, experts from multiple backgrounds are required because of the various kinds of testing and equipment needed.

However, this comprehensive analysis is well worth it for the diagnostic results. Failures can occur for various reasons, including improper usage or maintenance, assembly or fabrication errors, design flaws and poor quality materials. Naturally, finding such flaws can be vital.

Applications of Failure Analysis

There are many reasons to conduct failure analysis, ranging from safety and financial concerns to pursuing litigation.

  • If a failure mode arises due to fabrication flaws, identifying those flaws goes a long way in improving the manufacturing process and product quality, better satisfying clients and customers.
  • Halted production, repair costs and legal fees are just some of the financial losses that can arise from failure, providing good incentives to prevent future problems when possible.
  • Identifying likely causes of a failure mode are often key in pursuing or avoiding legal action, especially when injury or death result from product failure.

As a result, having dedicated tools and expertise available for performing failure analysis is vital throughout most industries.

How to Keep Your Customers and Employees Safe During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As most areas of the United States begin to reopen after the shutdowns caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic, business owners must create plans to keep their employees and customers safe. If you are responsible for developing your business’s course of action, make sure to include the following items.

Face Protection

Everyone in your store needs to wear masks, including your customers, your employees and yourself. Provide some disposable masks as backup, but encourage your employees to bring their own. Do not let customers enter without masks. Ensure that people wear them correctly; if you can see someone’s nose or mouth, then the mask does not provide adequate protection.

Another line of face protection is a plexiglass or plastic shield for checkout lines and customer service desks. These shields are durable and can be fixed by plastic welding services, so they are good long-term investments. They do not replace face masks, but they do provide an extra line of protection for employees who have extensive contact with customers.

Cleaning Schedules

How often your employees need to clean high-use areas may be mandated by your state or county, or you may be able to set these times yourself. Regardless, you need to figure out how to add regular cleanings into your employees’ schedules while still giving them breaks and time to complete their other duties. Stipulate how they should keep track of sanitizations, such as a checklist for each area that employees sign after they finish cleaning.

Sanitization Supplies

Where will you get the cleaning supplies that your employees need to keep up with your scheduled cleanings? Do not leave this question for the last minute, because many people are struggling to find cleaning supplies now. Consult local vendors who have changed their operations to accommodate the pandemic. For example, some distilleries now produce hand sanitizer as well as alcoholic beverages. Before purchasing a product, make sure that it is industrial strength and check which chemicals it contains so that you can store it safely. Keep an eye on your inventory and order new supplies as soon as your stores run low, since you cannot operate without disinfecting materials.

Running a store in the era of the novel coronavirus is a new experience for everyone, and it is easy to become overwhelmed at the thought of your responsibilities. However, if you prioritize your employees’ and customers’ safety, you have a good chance of keeping everyone safe.

Building Security Tips

Companies are affected by damaged, stolen, compromised internal files and property; vandalism; theft and IT vulnerabilities. Therefore, companies should conduct security assessments and create security plans that address these vulnerabilities. These plans should include access, perimeter and parking and internal security strategies, such as an active alert system.

Assessment and Plan

During periodic assessments, existing security plans should be analyzed and adapted to address changes in the neighborhood, city and company. Building weaknesses should be evaluated and addressed. Possible threats and their probability should be identified.

A plan should include the security director and personnel’s duties and responsibilities. These plans detail all security measures, including cameras and key management. They should discuss security personnel locations and mobility. Security plans may also include employee access authorizations throughout the building. They should include security training for employees.

Emergency procedures should be detailed in the building plans. Building security should include surveillance that immediately alerts authorities in case of an emergency or attack. Finally, open communication with authorities should be established in emergency situations.

Access

All entry points, including windows and doors, should be secured. Building access can be managed through creative landscaping that direct individuals to specific exits and entrances, reducing the monitoring requirements. Physical barriers, such as turnstiles, and electronic barriers, such as keypads, control panels and card readers, may also be used to slow and verify authorized access.

A receptionist or reception area will increase access security. For example, a receptionist may manage visitors and verify employee ID based on an up-to-date directory.

Building visitors should be managed. For example, they may be required to sign in, wear a visitor badge, or be accompanied by security.

Perimeter and Parking

The outside of the building and parking areas should have adequate lighting, including motion-detected lighting, and security camera surveillance. Security personnel should also walk the perimeter and parking areas. Landscaping should be trimmed back. Intercoms and card access to garages may be implemented as well.

Internal Strategies

To protect data and building employees, elevators may have card readers that restrict access based on ID cards or badges. In addition, rooms with sensitive data or other vulnerabilities should have locking doors, CCTV surveillance and intruder or emergency alert systems.

Regular assessments of your building security plan should be conducted, and your plan should be regularly adjusted for security weaknesses. In addition, your plan should include access, parking and perimeter and internal security measures to protect your assets and people.

The Best Caster Wheels for Your Home or Business

Casters facilitate moving industrial equipment and residential furniture. The following conditions will determine the best choices for your needs.

Uneven Floors

Floors that are uneven or have bumps and cracks can benefit from a wide caster wheel that efficiently navigates various floor textures. Pneumatic casters are also ideal for factory settings because they can safely move up to thousands of pounds over uneven surfaces. If cords and other objects remain on factory floors, spring-loaded casters can travel over them and absorb all shocks that might upset a load.

Tile Floors

Polyurethane wheels are an excellent choice for tile floors. These wheels tend to be wide and distribute weight evenly, reducing load pressure that can damage the tile. They are an excellent choice for retail trolleys, supermarket carriages and bathroom furniture because they are quiet and can resist water corrosion.

Hardwood Floors

Hardwood flooring is a popular choice for many office and residential floors but it can be easily scratched. Furniture sliding across a hardwood floor can be less abrasive when rolled on rubber or polyurethane caster wheels. These materials are particularly gentle because they grip the floor rather than create abrasive friction by gliding across it.

Carpeting

Carpeting is a popular flooring material in offices and homes. Carpet fibers can create friction against anything that rubs against them. For instance, rubber casters’ characteristic grip can dig into carpet fibers and prevent their smooth movement. Wheels that can dig past the threads without tearing them are a perfect solution. Hard metal or nylon wheels that can glide through carpet without damaging it are the best options.

Gravel

Pneumatic casters work well for outdoor areas covered with gravel because they are light and buoyant and won’t sink into the rocky surface.

Grass

Pneumatic casters are also an excellent choice for grass-filled areas like golf courses and lawns. Their ability to lightly glide over underlying dirt without boring into it make it possible to move items for great distances outdoors.

Concrete

It may be necessary to transfer all kinds of items on dollies and carts in a city environment. Typical concrete streets and sidewalks are coarse. They may also be littered with random objects. Caster wheels on dollies must provide shock absorption items like fragile art or stacks of multiple items for stores’ inventories. Shock-absorbing polyurethane, swivel and rubber casters can all safely move objects on concrete.

The right wheels can make a difference to your business’s productivity or the beauty of your home. A wheel supplier can help you make the best selection to work with your unique surface.

Keeping Your Workplace Safe and Healthy

As you operate under health restrictions or prepare to reopen your business, your employees’ and customers’ safety must be your priority. Follow these tips to make sure that as you keep up with your orders during the novel coronavirus pandemic, you also keep yourself and the people you interact with healthy.

Sanitize Your Workplace Regularly

Since COVID-19 can spread both through the air and through contact with infected surfaces, you must regularly sanitize all items in your workplace. The exact number of times a day varies depending on how many people come into your building, but at least twice a shift, you should thoroughly clean everything that people touch. Use disinfectant wipes or use a spray bottle of cleaner to remove germs from machines, door handles and desks. When you receive shipments of supplies such as couplings Ontario, clean both the items and their packaging.

Wear Face Masks

Face masks are essential to slowing the spread of COVID-19. You and your employees must wear them at all times, even during long shifts, and no customers should enter your building without one. If possible, wear reusable fabric masks so that the disposable ones are available to medical professionals. Email your employees to let them know your face mask policy, and post reminders on the door of your building and on the walls. While masks are uncomfortable, they are a small price to pay for your health.

Maintain Distance From Each Other

People use the phrase “social distancing” constantly, but many are still unsure of what this term means. To protect yourselves, stay at least six feet away from each other, even if you are wearing masks. This acts as a second safeguard against accidental exposure to the virus.

You may be sick of hearing about all the ways to keep yourself safe during the pandemic, but it is crucial that you follow these steps to protect your health and that of your employees.
