09 Feb Make Heating More Efficient and Reduce your Costs
With heating costs rising, you want to make sure that your heating in your home is as efficient as possible. Here are three ways to make your home heating more efficient which will help to reduce your costs…
Pipes can be vulnerable to the cold. If you have too many problems with your pipes then you may need them replaced, especially if they are old. Modern pipes will usually be like this Watkins and Powis copper pipe. It is a good idea to protect pipes from the cold especially in the winter. Pipe lagging will keep the water inside the pipes at the right temperature making your heating more efficient and less prone to problems.
Bleed the Radiators – If your radiators are not heating up equally, or they are staying cold at the top but are hot at the bottom, chances are, there is air trapped in them and they need bleeding. You can get someone to do this for you or you can learn to do it yourself. There are lots of helpful guides online that give good instructions for bleeding a radiator.
Stop the Cold Getting in – Heating is going to be much more effective if you don’t have cold air getting into your home. There are lots of places to block off the cold – the air that comes under the doors can be clocked using a draught excluder. Windows are another common offender for letting cold in even when they are closed, so get some thermal curtains and close them to trap the heat in the room.
