Try these summer craft ideas for families

The summer holidays are an excellent time to get crafty with the family and there are lots of great ideas that you can do on a budget. In this blog post, we will explore some fun summer crafts that can brighten up your home and garden.

Beaded Wind Chimes

Crafting is a great way to support the mental health of your child and making beaded wind chimes will create a beautiful decoration for your garden. You will need a stick, some nylon thread and some twine, a selection of different coloured beads and some jingle bells.

All you need to do is thread the beads onto the nylon thread, add a jingle bell to the end and attach the strings to the stick. Then you can hang the wind chime in your garden and listen to the beautiful sounds.

Pom Pom Garlands

Making colourful pom poms out of wool and stringing them together can make festive garlands to hang indoors or outdoors. You can choose between rainbow patterns, bright colours or pastel colours.

Gather together wool, scissors, cardboard or pom pom makers and string or twine to hang the garland. You could also try a knitting kit like a knitting kit from Wool Couture or another specialist supplier.

Painted Rocks

Painted rocks are a great way to spend a summer afternoon and they are so easy and cheap to make.

All you need are some rocks or stones (easy to find if you’ve recently been to a beach!) and some paints or rock painting pens. Then, just let inspiration strike and make colourful additions to your garden or for presents for family and friends.

Tie-Dye T-Shirts

Nothing says summer like a tie-dye T-shirt and they are very easy to make.

This activity requires a white cotton T-shirt, some fabric dyes, rubber bands or string and maybe some gloves and table covers to save your hands and furniture. Then, twist up the T-shirt in whatever pattern you want, place it in the dye and see what happens!
